Overview of BCHD HIV/STD Services
The Bureau of Clinical Services and HIV/STI Services at the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) is committed to implementing innovative, evidence-based strategies to prevent, test for, treat, and respond to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections in Baltimore. Aligned with the federal Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative, our comprehensive programs strive to eliminate HIV transmission by detecting infections early and getting those diagnosed into care rapidly. The bureau prioritizes services to address the syndemics of HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STI), and Hepatitis C through the provision of HIV/STI/Hepatitis C testing at fixed and mobile sites, care linkage and partner services, treatment, health education, condom distribution, data security, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
By collaborating across city agencies and building trust in communities, we aim to equitably serve all Baltimore residents with client-centered, stigma-free services for improved sexual health. View our Ending the HIV Epidemic plan.
