Baltimore City Cares About People with Disabilities

In Baltimore, we want to make sure that everyone can enjoy the city and have the same chances. We make sure we follow the rules of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other laws that protect people with disabilities.

The ADA makes sure that people with disabilities have the same rights when it comes to working, needing the government, communication, transportation, and access to buildings and places.

What We Do to Help

We do many important things to support people with disabilities in Baltimore:

  • We investigate problems and complaints related to disabilities.
  • We offer training and help to understand the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • We make sure that city agencies follow their ADA plans and rules by checking on them.
  • We work with the ADA Coordinators in different agencies.
  • We suggest new rules and ideas to make Baltimore better for people with disabilities.

Our Promise

Baltimore promises to treat people with disabilities fairly and equally:

  • We don't discriminate when hiring people with disabilities. We follow ADA rules.
  • We provide help for better communication, like sign language interpreters and Braille documents.
  • Policy Changes: We change our rules and programs to help people with disabilities.
  • If you need special help, email Viola Woolums or call 410-396-6152 at least two business days before the event.
  • We don't have to make changes if it's too hard or expensive.
  • Problems: If you think something isn't accessible, contact Hugh Scroggins.
  • No Extra Charges: We won't make people with disabilities pay extra for help or changes.
