Overview
The Community Association Directory (CAD) is a communications tool for agencies, residents, and other interested groups to connect with organizations that serve specific geographies in Baltimore City. The Directory includes community organizations, community development corporations, neighborhood business associations, and other neighborhood-based organizations. Directory listings include organization names, leadership, phone numbers, physical boundaries and, where offered, a schedule of public meetings or other information such as election schedules, bylaws, and areas of interest.
You can also view a map of registered community associations on CityView. You might observe that there is overlap between some organizations and some neighborhoods. Community association boundaries are self-determined and self-reported by registered organizations. Department of Planning does not require community association boundaries to follow a specific geography because neighborhood identity and organization service areas are highly personal and unique to the members of a community. In areas where boundaries overlap, the City will engage multiple groups and sometimes different perspectives on a particular topic. Please reach out to your community planner with any questions.
.City government is not responsible for verifying or monitoring the information provided by each group.
Community Association or Neighborhood Statistical Area?
Baltimore City creates a map of neighborhoods called “Neighborhood Statistical Areas.” The boundaries are based on U.S. Census-designated areas and allow the City government to access and provide Census information on a neighborhood level. The Census Bureau requires that every property be shown in one and only one neighborhood designation. The boundaries often match those reported by neighborhood associations. However, some discrepancies may exist due to Census area boundaries that do not match exactly with self-reported neighborhood association boundaries. These discrepancies are expected when two different systems of designation are used.
