We work with local groups that help young people aged 17-24 get ready for jobs. The programs below offer a space for young people to learn life and job skills, training, and career development.   

These award-winning programs are funded by the federal Department of Labor Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act youth grant.  

In-School Programs

Out-of-School Programs Bon Secours Community Works Health Career Training Out-of-School gives youth a chance to partner with IT Works Learning Center. Civic Works/Youth Build helps young adults finish high school. They also give on-site construction training that provides housing for low-income families. Students will earn the Home Builders Institute Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training Certification (HBI-PACT). They will also receive OSHA and Sherwin Williams painter certifications. Intersection of Change Strength to Love II’s Thrive Workforce Development Program will offer certifications in Construction Pre-Apprenticeship, Warehouse Logistics, and Customer Service. The program offers workforce development, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Training will be available in Construction Pre-Apprenticeship (8.5 weeks), Warehouse Logistics (6 weeks), and Customer Service (10 weeks). Maryland New Directions offers educational support and occupational skills training in the areas of Maritime Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Training Program and the Commercial Transportation Careers Training Program, Commercial Passenger Transportation/Licensure, Apartment Maintenance Certification (with the Maryland Multi-housing Association), and Hospitality/Customer Service Certification.
