About the DOT Divisions

 
Administration  

The Administration group includes Deputy Directors, Chief of Staff, Senior Advisor, Operations Bureau Chief, and Transit Bureau Chief. It also oversees Human Resources, Information Technology, Fiscal, and Contract Administration divisions. 

Conduit Division 

Our Conduit System is a way to set up and manage the city's cable systems for different groups and the city's communications. This group takes care of the engineering, maintenance, and inspection of these systems. They make sure construction plans from developers and others match the permits and data needed for using the city's space. 
 

Transportation Engineering and Construction Division 

This division handles the planning and construction of big transportation projects in Baltimore. They aim to meet the diverse transportation needs of the city's citizens. 

Traffic Division 

The Traffic Division keeps the city's traffic moving safely and efficiently. They take care of signs, road markings, and traffic lights. They also manage traffic through the Traffic Management Center. Their work includes handling events, traffic signals, safety studies, and more. 

Maintenance Division 

The Maintenance Division takes care of the city's transportation network. They maintain streets, streetlights, alleys, bridges, and other things. They also handle snow removal and work on projects in the Central Business District and Inner Harbor. 

Safety Division 

This division enforces traffic rules to keep the streets safe for residents, businesses, and visitors. They help with recovering stolen vehicles and ensuring safe crossings for school children. 

Right of Way Services Division 

This division handles permits for using the city's roads, sidewalks, and alleys. They also keep property records and set property address numbers. 

Towing Division 

This group deals with removing abandoned and illegally parked vehicles. They also operate the city's impound lot. 

Planning Division 

The Planning Division works on making Baltimore's transportation system better. They plan for safe and cost-effective transportation that benefits the environment and the community. 
 

Contract Administration 

This division is in charge of handling contracts for construction projects. They also oversee workforce development and civil rights programs, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity. 

 

Transit Bureau 

This group manages the city's transit programs and initiatives, along with the Marketing and Communications division.
