BALTIMORE, MD (August 5, 2022) – The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to remind residents that mechanical street sweeping parking enforcement will begin on Monday, August 15, 2022.

Mechanical street sweeping was resumed by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works in mid-July.  The restart of street sweeping services includes:

  • Central District Routes, which are swept weekly and generally extend from the City’s downtown area westward to Cooks Lane, northwest to Liberty Heights Avenue, northeast to Hillen Road, southeast to Haven Street, and southwest to Pratt Street.  These weekly routes have posted signage indicating the days and times that parking is restricted for street sweeping activities.
  • Quadrant (Neighborhood) Street Sweeping occurs once a month (on Wednesdays) in the Northwest/Southeast and Northeast/Southwest areas of the city. Generally, Quadrant Sweeping areas do not have posted parking restrictions, but the City encourages residents to cooperate by moving their vehicles on designated street sweeping days.  Residents can find their scheduled Quadrant Street Sweeping days on the 2022 DPW calendar or by calling 311

A 30-day grace period began on July 13th to provide residents time to adjust to the street sweeping schedule before any parking citations are issued.  Residents and visitors are advised to follow the posted “No Parking Signs” which provide information about area parking restrictions on street sweeping days, Monday through Friday.

The City’s street sweepers continue to service gateway routes into and out of the city, which are posted with peak-hour parking restriction signs.  Gateway parking restrictions on street sweeping days are already enforced, and will continue as we work together for a cleaner city.
