BALTIMORE, MD (July 1, 2024) – The City of Baltimore Procurement Conference was held on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The annual event started with registration for conference attendees at 9a and after a series of workshops and exhibitor networking, ended at 4p. Mayor Brandon M. Scott was unable to attend but delivered a welcome video at the start of the morning session. Admission was free along with a continental breakfast, boxed lunch, and access to five workshops presented throughout the day. A total of 879 participants attended with 39 walk-ins registering the day of the event. Attendees came from 18 different states to learn how to do business with the City of Baltimore.

“The conference displayed the eagerness of our local business community to partner with the City on contracts. We had increased attendance for our first year at the Baltimore Convention Center,” said Christopher R. Lundy, Esq., Director of the Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy and Development (SMBA&D). “The event provided the needed forecasting, an opportunity to network, and discuss contracts with City leadership. SMBA&D will continue to work with intentionality to increase opportunities and educate our small, local, and minority business about our process.”

The event was hosted by Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy and Development (SMBA&D), and cohosted by the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore City Information and Technology (BCIT), and the City of Baltimore Bureau of Procurement.

“We were honored to host this impactful event, which united a diverse array of businesses and city agencies dedicated to fostering economic growth and inclusion,” said Mac Campbell, Executive Director of the Baltimore Convention Center. “Our team, along with our partners, was thrilled not only to host the conference but also to participate actively as both vendors and attendees. This dual role enabled us to engage directly with the community, highlighting our shared commitment to creating opportunities and fostering a more inclusive economic landscape.”

“This is a hidden gem… most of our communities don’t have access and exposure to this kind of knowledge,” said Crystal, a walk-in registrant and local Baltimore resident. “This is where you need to be – do not miss this next year.”
