The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.

 

Traffic Modifications for Charm City Live

This weekend, traffic modifications will be in effect for Charm City Live which will be held at War Memorial Plaza on Saturday, September 21, 2024from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In preparation for this event, the following road closures will be implemented from approximately 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20th through 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from E. Saratoga to E. Lexington Streets (access to Breco Condominiums allowed)
  • Lexington Street closed from Guilford Avenue to N. Frederick Street
  • Dickey Place closed from Guilford Avenue to Holliday Street (access to DPW parking area from Guilford Avenue only)

In addition, the following roads will be closed to through traffic beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday September 20th through 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Fayette Street closed from President Street to Guilford Avenue
  • Gay Street closed from E. Baltimore to E. Saratoga Streets
  • Holliday Street closed from E. Baltimore to E. Fayette Streets

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid possible delays.  

Due to the road closures for the Charm City Live event, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will have temporary Local Bus diversions in effect.  Bus patrons are encouraged to visit the MDOT MTA’s website for additional information.

Bus diversions will also be in effect along the Charm City Circulator’s (CCC) Green Route during this time.  Circulator patrons should visit the Charm City Circulator’s website or download the Passio Go! app for additional information.

 

Traffic Modifications for Baltimore Orioles Home Games

This weekend, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented for the Baltimore Orioles home games against the Detroit Tigers at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Motorists should be advised that all parking restrictions and residential permit parking regulations will be strictly enforced in the vicinity of the stadium.  Patrons who do not have a parking permit for any of the stadium lots are strongly encouraged to use public transportation.  Increased traffic delays should be expected due to the Key Bridge closure.  With a variety of transit options including the Metro Subway, Light Rail, Local Bus, and the Charm City Circulator, fans can easily use mass transit from numerous locations in and around Baltimore. 

Baseball fans that drive to the game should utilize commercial parking facilities north of the stadium and avoid parking in area neighborhoods.  Transportation Enforcement Officers will enforce posted parking restrictions and residential permit parking regulations in the vicinity of the stadium.  Vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed.  Motorists with questions concerning the location of their vehicles should call 311. 

In preparation for the games, the following streets will be closed on Friday, September 20, 2024, starting at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21st starting at 1:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 22nd starting at 10:00 a.m. (times approximate) with detours in effect: 

  • Eutaw Street from Pratt to Camden Streets
  • Camden Street from Howard to Russell Streets
  • Hamburg Street from Russell to Leadenhall Streets

In addition, the following parking restrictions will be implemented on Friday, September 20th, Saturday, September 21st, and Sunday, September 22, 2024, in the vicinity of the stadium: 

  • East side of Eutaw Street from Pratt to Lombard Streets
  • North side of Conway Street from Charles to Sharp Streets
  • East side of Greene Street from Lombard Street to Washington Boulevard
  • North side of Pratt Street from Greene Street to Paca Street

Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist with the movement of traffic in the downtown area.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians, especially when approaching designated crosswalks.

Road Closures for the BSO’s Annual Gala Celebration

Temporary road closures are now in effect for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s annual Gala Celebration which will be held on September 21, 2024.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures and special traffic patterns are now in effect until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Meyerhoff Driveway between Preston Street and Park Avenue

  • Park Avenue between Howard Street and Biddle Street

  • A temporary 2-way traffic pattern will be installed along Park Avenue from Cathedral Street to the Symphony Center Parking Garage during this time.

Traffic Modifications for the Big Dill Pickle Party

This weekend, temporary road closures will be implemented for the Big Dill Pickle Party which will be held at Power Plant Live.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented from approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20th through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Water Street closed between Frederick Street and Market Place
  • Market Place closed between Water Street and Pratt Street

Access to the Harbor Park Garage will be maintained during these times.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the We’re Not Worthy Festival Episode 2

This weekend, traffic modifications will be implemented for the We’re Not Worthy Festival Episode 2 which will be held in Canton.

In preparation for the event, the following road closure will be implemented from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20th until 2:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Linwood Avenue between O’Donnell and Dillon Streets

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Light the Night Event

On Saturday, traffic modifications will be implemented for the Baltimore Light the Night event which will be held along the Baltimore Peninsula.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • E. Cromwell Street closed between House and Rye Streets
  • Rye Street closed between E. Cromwell Street and Mission Boulevard
  • Mission Boulevard closed between Rye Street and Terrapin Way
  • Terrapin Way closed between Mission Boulevard and E. Cromwell Street

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Lane Closures for CFG Bank Arena Events

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented in the vicinity of the CFG Bank Arena for an arena event.

In preparation for the event, the following lane closures will be implemented from approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, until 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024: 

  • Howard Street left lane closure from Camden to Pratt Streets

  • Lombard Street right lane closure from Hopkins Place to Howard Street 

  • Baltimore Street left lane closure from Howard Street to Park Avenue

  • Pratt Street left lane closure from Eutaw to Howard Streets

Motorists traveling in the vicinity of the CFG Arena should be prepared for heavy traffic volumes and changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities

This weekend, temporary ramp, road, and lane closures will be in effect for various activities.

On Friday, September 20, 2024, the following road closure will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Park Avenue closure between Franklin and Hamilton Streets 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (special event)

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the following ramp, road, and lane closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Falls Road ramp to the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 closure 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (graffiti removal)

  • Falls Road exit ramp from the northbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 closure 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (graffiti removal)

  • Baltimore Street closure between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Greene Street 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation)

  • Pratt Street Lane closures between Gay and President Streets 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation).  Pratt Street will be reduced to two lanes of through traffic in this area during this time.

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, the following lane closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 left lane closures northbound and southbound between Fayette Street and the city/county line 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Race for Our Kids

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the 20th annual Race for Our Kids which will be held at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

The 10K race kicks off along Beechwood Drive (just east of Safari Place) at 8:00 a.m.  Runners will follow Beechwood Drive to the end, turn left on Swann Drive, and left on Mansion House Drive to turn around triangle island.  The course proceeds back along Mansion House Drive and left on East Drive to cross over I-83 onto Wyman Park Drive.  Runners will turn right on Sisson Street, left on W. 26th Street, right on Huntingdon Avenue and follow around to W. 25th Street, left on N. Howard Street and left on Wyman Park Drive (crossing I-83) onto East Drive.  Participants will turn right on Pool Service Drive, right on Red Road, right on Shop Road (until it becomes Grove Road), right on Red Road, right on East Drive, left on Swann Drive, and right on Beechwood Drive to the finish line.  

In preparation for the race, the following street will be closed on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with parking restrictions and detours in effect:

  • Beechwood Drive closed from Safari Place to Swann Drive

In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off along the race route where possible for the safety of participants.  Commuters should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the race for the safety of participants.  Baltimore City Police and Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the race route to help facilitate the movement of traffic.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
